Step 1 – Sign a Union Card:

By doing so you are voicing your support for having a Union and bringing the certification vote. Signing a Union membership card is completely confidential and you are legally protected under the Ontario Labour Relations Act against reprisals should Queen's attempt those tactics.

We must collect signed cards from a minimum of 40% of TAs and TFs in order to file for a certification vote with the Ontario Labour Board. Signing makes our application stronger but also gives you an opportunity to meet other TAFA members and to let us know how to contact you with time-sensitive vote information.

Step 2 – Spread the word/Volunteer:

Let your friends and colleagues know about the drive. There are over 1300 TAs and TFs in 40+ departments, we want all of them informed about the benefits of unionization and participating in the process. Looking to help in a more structured way? Contact us about becoming a TAFA volunteer, you'll choose the time to put in and the activity in which to participate.

Step 3 – Vote:

It is the certification vote that will decide whether TAs and TFs at Queen's win the right to collective bargaining. You will be contacted after we file and receive vote details from the labour board. Signing a card is important, but you must physically cast your ballot to be counted!
